The FTA agreements of Korea with the European Union and the United States of America have opened a new area in the Korean CPTA market.

The FTA agreement between Korea and the European Union as well as the United States of America has ushered the Korean CPTA's market into a new stage, with new opportunities being created for Korean CPTAs as they can practice their profession without any restrictions in the EU and USA, while there is no reciprocity for foreign counterparts willing to work in the much more restrained Korean market.

However the Korean Association of CPTA does not seem to harness such good opportunities, probably due to the general indifference to the international taxation and low level of proficiency in foreign languages.

The Korean Association of CPTA may need to prepare measures to such a change, in the same way as the Lawyers and CPAs that have already been actively dealing with the change of the market environment brought by the FTA agreement for several years before the agreement.

The measures would include to create the Bureau for international affairs working as a representative of the Korean Association of CPTA to the foreign customers.

Another action that could be taken would consist of reinforcing the education of international taxation and improve the consulting skills for both the domestic and foreign customers.

Finally, a Special Purpose Company(SPC) created within the Korean Association of CPTA to support the business related to the international taxation would be needed. Such a structure would firstly be tied with the Chinese and Japanese counter partners and generate a viable revenue model.
